This “reward within the reward” is only for products being launched; products which must be successful at the “Victoire de la Beauté” testing.
The innovation or “nouveauté” put in the spotlight is evaluated by a jury of consumer testers. It focuses on elements such as the packaging, the formula, a component, the environmental impact, anti-waste, …
At the end of the blind testing each of the consumer testers handles and examines the product as it is proposed for retailing, with its packaging, volume and brand.

If exceeding the required threshold for overall satisfaction mark the product can rightly claim the “Top Innovation” or “Top Nouveauté” award.
Why and how it is awarded?
Limited to products that already have the “Bio” (organic) certification, this award allows bringing to light the efficacy of their formula as well as their cosmetic qualities.
Just like for any product registering for the award, each product is blind tested and assessed under sensory analysis lab control by a jury of 40 consumers. It is compulsory that consumers who take part in such jury be regular users of organic products.

Just as for “regular” products, products registering for the “Bio” (organic) mention must obtain, following testing, an overall mark equal to or exceeding the qualifying threshold which is 13/20.
Why and how it is awarded?
The “Clean” version proves that combining efficient cosmetics and respect for both planet and users added to consumers’ plebiscite is an overall winning combination.
Besides testing carried out under sensory analysis lab control, the verification of the candidate product against the INCI list (INCI – International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) is carried out by experts from the INCI Beauty app. (INCI Beauty app is an independent reference tool for professionals and consumers, and is dedicated to the analysis of the composition of cosmetic products. The analysis must show that the product does not contain any controversial ingredient; ingredients posing a risk to human health, i.e. illegal ingredients or ingredients subjected to debate and/or that have been subjected to controversy (irritating, allergenic, carcinogenic or endocrine disruptors…) or no ingredient made from petrochemical products. 2,113 ingredients have been banned from the Clean standard of the award.

Therefore to obtain the “Clean” mention products must pass 2 kinds of tests. One is the consumer jury testing (by obtaining a mark equal to or exceeding the qualifying threshold) as well as pass the analysis carried out by INCI Beauty experts.
